Program Overview

The Certificate of Competency (CCT) in Collision Repair Technician gives students the knowledge and hands-on experience to start a career in the automotive collision repair industry. Learn about metal and plastic repair, metal inert gas (MIG) welding, vehicle disassembly, refinishing, reassembly, estimate reading, coolant removal/replacement, and air conditioning (A/C) discharge/recharge and industry terminology.

Program Objectives

  1. Automotive Structure Repair: Participants will gain expertise in repairing and restoring vehicle structures, including frame straightening and alignment, to ensure vehicles meet safety and performance standards.

  2. Surface Preparation and Painting: The program covers the art and science of surface preparation, priming, and painting, emphasizing the use of modern automotive finishes and color-matching techniques.

  3. Dent Repair and Panel Replacement: Participants will learn techniques for repairing dents, dings, and panel replacement, ensuring precision and quality in restoring damaged vehicle exteriors.

  4. Welding and Metal Fabrication: The program includes hands-on training in welding and metal fabrication, crucial skills for repairing and reconstructing various vehicle components.

  5. Automotive Technology Integration: Participants will be introduced to cutting-edge automotive technologies, including computerized diagnostics and repair, enhancing their ability to work on modern vehicles.

  6. Safety and Environmental Compliance: Emphasis is placed on safety protocols and environmental compliance, ensuring participants adhere to industry standards for both their well-being and environmental sustainability.

Degree Requirements:

Must be able to lift 50 pounds.
 
National certifications are obtained through the Inter-Industry Conference on Auto Collision Repair (I-CAR) for the following: Non-Structural Technician ProLevel 1, Refinish Technician ProLevel 1.
